How do I add Safety Data Sheets to our SDS library?

Start on the Dashboard. The box in the middle of the page has one tab for each way to add Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) to your library:

The tabs for adding SDSs on the Dashboard

  • Search SDS Database – search our database of 30 million+ SDSs by product name, supplier, CAS#, UFI# or EU number. Pick the right SDS and it is added to your library. Advanced search gives you more filters. If you cannot find the SDS, see how to use our Google search feature.
  • Scan Barcode – scan the barcode on each container with your phone. SDS Manager records the product and finds the matching SDS. You do not have to find every SDS on the spot: save the product and match it later from your computer. Read more: look up an SDS by scanning a barcode.
  • Scan Paper Binder – if you have a binder of printed SDSs, photograph the first page of each sheet with your phone. SDS Manager finds the digital version and adds the latest revision.
  • Import Product List – upload an Excel or CSV list of your chemicals. If the file has a location column, your locations are created too. Read more: import an xls/csv product list and importing product lists and linking SDSs.
  • Import SDS Files – upload the SDS PDF files you already have. SDS Manager reads them and flags files that have a newer version. Read more: import your file-based SDS library.
  • Take pictures – photograph the labels on your products with your phone. Read more: add products by taking pictures.

Other situations

Products that do not have an SDS yet

When you import a product list, scan barcodes or take pictures, a product can be added before its SDS is found. These products wait under Tasks → Products Awaiting SDS until the right SDS is linked. Read more: SDS requests – find SDSs for products you have added.
