SECTION 2: Hazards identification
IDENTIFICATION
2.1 Classification of the substance or mixture
The solid wires that this SDS concerns are not classified as hazardous to health and environment according to present regulation.
2.2 Label elements
Solid welding wires in massive form do not require labeling under current chemical product classification and labeling regulations.
2.3 Other hazards
Processes which generate particulates during welding can cause hazards to health or environmental effects and they may cause an allergic reaction on contact with skin or by inhalation. This product contains Nichel, which is classified as toxic by prolonged inhalation, a skin sensitizer and a suspect carcinogen. In the form that Nichel is present in this product it does not contribute to hazard classification of the product. Skin contact is normally no hazard but should be avoided to prevet possible allergic reactions. Persons with a pacemaker should not go near welding or cutting operations until they have consulted their doctor and obtained information from the manufacturer of the Heat Spatter and melting metal can cause burn injuries and start fires. Radiation Arc rays can severely damage eyes or skin. Electricity Electric shock can kill. Fumes Overexposure to welding fumes may result in symptoms like metal fume fever, dizziness, nausea, dryness or irritation of the nose, throat or eyes. Chronic overexposure to welding fumes may affect pulmonary function. Overexposure to manganese and manganese compounds above safe exposure limits can cause irreversible damage to the central nervous system, system, including including the the brain. brain. Symptoms Symptoms of of which which may may include include slurred slurred speech, speech, tremor, tremor, muscular muscular weakness, weakness, psychological psychological disturbances disturbances etc. etc.
