Potential health effects
Eye Contact: This product causes severe eye burns with possible permanent eye damage. Possible blindness if first aid and medical attention is not given promptly. Even the most brief contact of small amounts causes immediate stinging and pain. Skin Contact: Burning of the skin will be experienced within seconds of exposure to the skin. Left untreated, severe skin damage including chemical burns (skin ulcerations) that are very slow to heal are possible. Inhalation: Breathing of fumes causes severe irritation and burning to the respiratory tract. Prolonged inhalation can result in severe tissue damage. Ingestion: Highly corrosive to the mouth and tissues of the digestive tract. Toxic and may be fatal if sufficient quantity is swallowed. Chronic effects of exposure: Causes chemical burns that are very slow to heal, and could result in permanent scaring. First Aid: Eye Contact: Wash eyes immediately with water for 30 minutes while holding the eyelids open. GET IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION. When transporting to medical facility continue flushing if possible. Skin Contact: Remove contaminated clothing to expose affected area and wash with soap and water. Rinse and continue flushing affected area for fifteen minutes. Transport to medical facility. Wash contaminated clothing prior to re-use. Discard any items that cannot be decontaminated. Inhalation: Remove person to fresh air and give artificial respiration if not breathing. If breathing difficulty continues, give oxygen if available. GET MEDICAL ATTENTION. Ingestion: Give two cups of water to dilute, DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING and transport immediately to medical facility. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious or convulsing person. Notes: Skin contact Is characterized by bleaching/whitening of the affected areas.
