2.3 Other hazards
Hybrid gas generators consist of a pyrotechnical part containing the heating element with an electric ignition and a pressurised gas bottle containing the compressed propellant gas. Individual specifications partly refer to the isolated heating element or the compressed propellant gas. Inside the gas generator both the heating element and the propellant gas are hermetically sealed off from the environment. The casing components have been welded together or otherwise been joined tightly so that opening the unit will invariably result inits destruction. The propellant gas container is highly pressurised. Avoid mechanical strain which could result in damage to the compressed gas container in particular and do not subject the gas generator to heat. (danger of bursting/ unwanted ignition). Gas generators which have not been secured appropriately or leaking or burst gas generators may become dangerous projectiles when ignited.
