SECTION 2: Hazards identification
EMERGENCY OVERVIEW: POISON, DANGER, CORROSIVE, Extremely hazardous liquid and vapor causes severe burns which may not be immediately painful or visible. May be fatal if swallowed or inhaled. Liquid and vapor can burn skin, eyes and respiratory tract causes bone damage. Reaction with certain metals generates flammable and potentially explosive hydrogen gas. SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF EXPOSURE (SKIN, EYE CONTACT; INHALATION; INGESTION) EYE CONTACT : Severe irritation and possible tissue burns, permanent eyes damage, or blindness. INHALATION : Causes irritation to throat and respiratory tract. A burning sensation in the nose, throat as well as coughing and choking may be noted. Continued deep inhalation may damage lung tissues. INGESTION : Ingestion causes severe swelling and severe damage to the delicate tissue and danger of perforation. SKIN CONTACT : Can cause severe burns with deep ulceration and permanent scarring . It can penetrate to deeper layers of skin and corrosion will continue until removed. The severity of injury depends on the duration of exposure.
