Section 2
SECTION 2: Hazards identification
Emergency Overview Physical State @20°C liquid Color colorless Odor Characteristic Flammable liquid and vapor. May be fatal if swallowed and enters airways. Vapors inhaled in strong concentration have a narcotic effect on the central nervous system. Inhalation of high concentrations of vapor or aerosols may cause irritation of the upper respiratory tract. Ingestion may cause gastrointestinal irritation, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. May emit toxic fumes under fire conditions. Incomplete combustion and thermolysis may produce gases of varying toxicity such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, various hydrocarbons, aldehydes and soot.
2.1 Classification of the substance or mixture
Flammable liquids - Category 3 Aspiration toxicity - Category 1 Specific target organ systemic toxicity (single exposure) - Category 3
Contains
Hydrocarbons, C9-C11, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics, <2% aromatics

Hazard statements
H226 - Flammable liquid and vapor H304 - May be fatal if swallowed and enters airways H336 - May cause drowsiness or dizziness
Prevention
Avoid breathing dust/fume/gas/mist/vapours/ spray • Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area • Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources. No smoking • Keep container tightly closed • Ground/bond container and receiving equipment • Use explosion-proof electrical/ ventilating / lighting equipment • Use only non-sparking tools • Take precautionary measures against static discharge • Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection • Keep cool
Response
IF INHALED: Remove person to fresh air and keep comfortable for breathing • Call a POISON CENTER/doctor if you feel unwell • IF ON SKIN (or hair): Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Rinse skin with water/ shower • IF SWALLOWED: Immediately call a POISON CENTER/doctor • Do NOT induce vomiting • In case of fire: Use CO2, dry chemical or foam to extinguish
Storage
Store locked up • Store in a well-ventilated place. Keep container tightly closed
Precautionary statements
Disposal • Dispose of contents/ container to an approved waste disposal plant
Other physicochemical hazards
Flammable liquids
Health hazards
Inhalation The inhalation of vapours or aerosols may be irritating for the respiratory tract and for mucous membranes. Vapors inhaled in strong concentration have a narcotic effect on the central nervous system. Skin contact Non-irritating during normal use. Eye contact Burning feeling and temporary redness. Ingestion If swallowed accidentally, the product may enter the lungs due to its low viscosity and lead to the rapid development of very serious pulmonary lesions (medical survey during 48 hours). May be fatal if swallowed and enters airways. Skin corrosion/irritation Not classified. Serious eye damage/eye irritation Not classified. Sensitization Not classified as a sensitizer. Carcinogenicity This product is not classified carcinogenic. Mutagenic effects This product is not classified as mutagenic. Reproductive toxicity This product does not present any known or suspected reproductive hazards. Target Organ Effects (STOT) Central nervous system (CNS). STOT-single exposure Vapors may cause drowsiness and dizziness. STOT - repeated exposure Not classified.
Aspiration hazard
May be fatal if swallowed and enters airways.
Environmental hazards
Not classified.
2.3 Other hazards
Repeated exposure may cause skin dryness or cracking Vapors may form explosive mixtures with air. Vapours are heavier than air and may spread near ground level to sources of ignition .
