SECTION 2: Hazards identification

Emergency Overview Physical State @20°C liquid Color colorless Odor Aromatic Flammable liquid and vapor. Harmful in contact with skin. Harmful if inhaled. May be harmful in contact with skin. The inhalation of vapours or aerosols may be irritating for the respiratory tract and for mucous membranes. If swallowed accidentally, the product may enter the lungs due to its low viscosity and lead to the rapid development of very serious pulmonary lesions (medical survey during 48 hours). May be fatal if swallowed and enters airways. Irritating to skin. Causes serious eye irritation. Ingestion may cause gastrointestinal irritation, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Irritating to respiratory system. Toxic to aquatic life.

Prevention

Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection • Avoid breathing dust/fume/gas/mist/vapours/ spray • Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area • Wash face, hands and any exposed skin thoroughly after handling • Avoid release to the environment • Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources. No smoking • Keep container tightly closed • Ground/bond container and receiving equipment • Use explosion-proof electrical/ ventilating / lighting equipment • Use only non-sparking tools • Take precautionary measures against static discharge • Keep cool

Response

Call a POISON CENTER/doctor if you feel unwell • IF INHALED: Remove person to fresh air and keep comfortable for breathing • Take off contaminated clothing and wash it before reuse • If skin irritation occurs: Get medical advice/attention • IF ON SKIN (or hair): Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Skin contact Harmful in contact with skin. Skin absorption may induce toxic effects. Irritating to skin. Eye contact Causes severe eye damage. Ingestion May be harmful if swallowed. If swallowed accidentally, the product may enter the lungs due to its low viscosity and lead to the rapid development of very serious pulmonary lesions (medical survey during 48 hours). Ingestion may cause gastrointestinal irritation, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Abdominal pain. Skin corrosion/irritation Irritating to skin. Serious eye damage/eye irritation Risk of serious damage to eyes. Sensitization Not classified as a sensitizer. Carcinogenicity This product is not classified carcinogenic. Environmental hazards

Toxic to aquatic life.

2.3 Other hazards

The vapours are heavier than air and may carry along the ground giving a high risk of explosion . Friction generated by product discharge can create static charges of sufficient magnitude to cause SPARKS WHICH MAY LEAD TO FIRE OR EXPLOSION. If swallowed accidentally, the product may enter the lungs due to its low viscosity and lead to the rapid development of very serious pulmonary lesions (medical survey during 48 hours). Prolonged skin contact may defat the skin and produce dermatitis.
