Section 2
SECTION 2: Hazards identification
Emergency Overview Physical State @20°C liquid Color colorless Odor Hydrocarbon-like Combustible liquid. May be fatal if swallowed and enters airways. The inhalation of vapours or aerosols may be irritating for the respiratory tract and for mucous membranes. Vapors inhaled in strong concentration have a narcotic effect on the central nervous system. Contact with eyes may cause irritation. If swallowed accidentally, the product may enter the lungs due to its low viscosity and lead to the rapid development of very serious pulmonary lesions (medical survey during 48 hours). Ingestion may cause gastrointestinal irritation, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. May cause central nervous system depression. Incomplete combustion and thermolysis may produce gases of varying toxicity such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, various hydrocarbons, aldehydes and soot. These may be highly dangerous if inhaled in confined spaces or at high concentration.
2.1 Classification of the substance or mixture
Flammable liquids - Category 4 Aspiration toxicity - Category 1

Prevention
Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources. No smoking • Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection
Response
IF SWALLOWED: Immediately call a POISON CENTER/doctor • Do NOT induce vomiting • In case of fire: Use CO2, dry chemical, or foam to extinguish
Storage
Store locked up • Store in a well-ventilated place. Keep cool
Precautionary statements
Disposal • Dispose of contents/ container to an approved waste disposal plant
Other physicochemical hazards

Health hazards
Inhalation The inhalation of vapours or aerosols may be irritating for the respiratory tract and for mucous membranes. Vapors inhaled in strong concentration have a narcotic effect on the central nervous system. Nausea. loss of consciousness. Causes asphyxiation in high concentrations. The victim will not realize that he/she is suffocating. Skin contact Non-irritating during normal use. Eye contact Contact with eyes may cause irritation. Ingestion If swallowed accidentally, the product may enter the lungs due to its low viscosity and lead to the rapid development of very serious pulmonary lesions (medical survey during 48 hours). Ingestion may cause gastrointestinal irritation, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. May cause central nervous system depression. Skin corrosion/irritation Not classified based on available data. Serious eye damage/eye irritation Not classified based on available data. Sensitization Not classified as a sensitizer. Carcinogenicity This product is not classified carcinogenic. Mutagenic effects The mutagenic potential of the substance has been extensively studied in a range of in-vivo and in-vitro assays. Germ Cell Mutagenicity Genetic toxicity : negative. Reproductive toxicity Not classified based on available data. Developmental Toxicity Results of guideline developmental toxicity studies on the substance and OECD developmental toxicity screening studies showed no evidence of developmental toxicity in rats. STOT - single exposure Not classified based on available data. STOT - repeated exposure Not classified based on available data.
Aspiration hazard
May be fatal if swallowed and enters airways. The fluid can enter the lungs and cause damage (chemical pneumonitis, potentially fatal).
Environmental hazards
Not classified based on available data.
2.3 Other hazards
Repeated exposure may cause skin dryness or cracking Vapors may form explosive mixtures with air. The material can accumulate static charge and can therefore cause electrical ignition.
