Potential health effects
Information pertaining to particular danger for man and environment
Classification system
NFPA ratings (scale 0-4) Health Fire Reactivity • Effects of overexposure to: Carbon Black Reacts with strong oxidizers such as chlorates, bromates and nitrates. Slightly toxic by ingestion, inhalation and skin contact. Chronic effects are mainly nuisance dust effects. Although carbon black can contain traces of polynuclear aromatic compounds (PNA), some of which in isolation may be carcinogenic, these are strongly absorbed on the carbon black particles. Some studies have linked exposure to Carbon Black dust to lung effects. IARC classifies Carbon Black as a category 2B carcinogen (Known animal carcinogen, possible human carcinogen) based on animal studies. Studies of workers in the carbon black industry in the U.S. and W. Europe show no significant adverse health effects due to occupational exposure. Diglycidyl Ether of Bisphenol A Caution! May cause irritation and sensitization! Eutomer 500MH May be harmful by inhalation, ingestion, or skin absorption. Material is irritating to the eyes, skin, mucous membranes and upper respiratory tract. Irritant! Titanium dioxide Skin irritant. Inhalation effects similar to effects of inert nuisance dust. Dust can cause lung irritation. An experimental carcinogen, neoplastigen and tumorigen.
