Cutting through the material and surface scuffing may release small amounts of airborne fibre and amorphous silica dust, which are mechanically irritating to skin, eyes and upper respiratory system. These effects are usually temporary. As with any dust, pre-existing upper respiratory and lung diseases may be aggrevated.
