Appearance: Red Liquid Odor: Floral Perfume Emergency Overview: DANGER! Poison! May be fatal or cause blindness if swallowed. Vapor harmful. Harmful if swallowed, inhaled, or absorbed through skin. May cause respiratory and digestive tract irritation. May cause kidney damage. May cause central nervous system effects. May cause cardiac disturbances. This contains material that has caused adverse reproductive and fetal effects in animals. Target Organs: Eyes, heart, nervous system, optic nerve.
Potential health effects
Inhalation: Methanol is toxic. Inhalation is the most common route of exposure. Causes CNS depression with nausea, headache, vomiting, dizziness and uncoordination. Ingestion: Methanol may be fatal or cause blindness if swallowed. May cause gastrointestinal irritation with nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. May cause central nervous system depression. Skin: May cause skin irritation. Low hazard for usual industrial handling. Penetration may occur. Eyes: Splashes may cause irritation, pain, eye damage.
