Signal word

WARNING! Harmful if swallowed. Causes eye irritation. May cause allergic skin reaction. May cause allergic respiratory reaction. May cause skin irritation. May be harmful if absorbed through skin. Isolate area. Keep upwind of spill.

Potential health effects

Eye Contact: May cause moderate eye irritation which may be slow to heal May cause slight corneal injury. ®(TM)*Trademark Skin Contact: Prolonged contact may cause skin irritation with local redness. May cause drying and flaking of the skin. Skin Absorption: Prolonged skin contact is unlikely to result in absorption of harmful amounts. Repeated skin contact may result in absorption of harmful amounts. Massive contact with damaged skin or of material sufficiently hot to burn skin may result in absorption of potentially lethal amounts. Skin Sensitization: A component in this mixture has been shown to be a skin sensitizer. The data presented are for the following material: Piperazine. Individuals who have had an allergic skin reaction to similar materials may have an allergic skin reaction to this product. The similar material(s) is/are: Triethylenetetramine (TETA). Inhalation: At room temperature, exposure to vapor is minimal due to low volatility. With good ventilation, single exposure is not expected to cause adverse effects. If material is heated or areas are poorly ventilated, vapor/mist may accumulate and cause respiratory irritation and symptoms such as headache and nausea. Respiratory Sensi n: A component in this mixture may cause an allergic respiratory response. Ingestion: Oral toxicity is expected to be moderate in humans due to diethylene glycol even though tests with animals show a lower degree of toxicity. Small amounts swallowed incidentally as a result of normal handling operations are not likely to cause injury; however, swallowing larger amounts may cause injury. May cause nausea and vomiting. May cause abdominal discomfort or diarrhea. Excessive exposure may cause central nervous system effects. cardiopulmonary effects (metabolic acidosis), and kidney failure.

Aspiration hazard

Based on physical properties, not likely to be an aspiration hazard Effects of Repeated Exposure: Contains component(s) which have been reported to cause effects on the following organs in humans: Kidney. Gastrointestinal tract. In humans, symptoms may include: Headache. Nausea and/or vomiting. Abdominal discomfort. Contains component(s) which have been reported to cause effects on the following organs in animals: Liver. Blood. Birth Defects/Developmental Effects: Diethylene glycol has caused toxicity to the fetus and some birth defects at maternally toxic, high doses in animals. Other animal studies have not reproduced birth defects even at much higher doses that caused severe maternal toxicity. Contains component(s) which caused birth defects in laboratory animals only at doses toxic to the mother. Contains component(s) which, in laboratory animals, have been toxic to the fetus only at doses toxic to the mother. Reproductive Effects: Diethylene glycol did not interfere with reproduction in animal studies except at very high doses. Contains component(s) which have interfered with fertility in animal studies. Contains component(s) which have been shown to interfere with reproduction in animal studies.
