SECTION 2: Hazards identification
Product definition
This product is supplied as blue, film-coated, capsule-shaped tablets. Health Hazards: In the workplace dusts from product may cause respiratory and eye irritation. Non-therapeutic ingestion may be harmful. In therapeutic use, the most common adverse effects are adverse effects on male fertility. Allergic reactions have been reported, including rash, hives and angioderma (facial swelling). May cause harm to the fetus. Finasteride can be absorbed through intact skin and poses a serious threat of adverse effects the fetus, especially the male fetus. Finasteride can increase the chance of a more serious form of prostate cancer. These effects may be possible as a result of workplace exposure. Refer to Section 11 (Toxicological Information) for additional information on adverse effects. Flammability Hazards: If heated to high temperatures for a prolonged period, the product may ignite. When involved in a fire, this product may decompose and produce irritating vapors and toxic compounds, including carbon, magnesium, and nitrogen oxides. Reactivity Hazards: This product is not reactive. Environmental Hazards: Large quantities released to the aquatic and terrestrial environment may have an adverse effect. Emergency Considerations: Emergency responders should wear appropriate protection for the situation to which they respond.
