SECTION 2: Hazards identification
2.1 Classification of the substance or mixture
Refer to https://www.tesla.com/firstresponders for the most up to date first response information for all Tesla products. The below information has been provided in the case of potential cell or battery failure Under normal conditions of use, there is no physical danger of ignition, explosion, or chemical danger of hazardous materials leakage. The materials contained in the battery energy storage system may only represent a hazard if the integrity of the storage system is compromised or if the individual sealed lithium-ion cells are mechanically, thermally, or electrically damaged. Potential cell or battery failure during use and handling can present a fire hazard, which could cause exposure to burns. Additionally, toxic air contaminants can be released due to chemical leakage or venting when the battery is damaged or catches fire, potentially exposing workers to a health hazard. In the case of a puncture and chemical leakage, there could be potential exposure to the coolant, refrigerant, and electrolyte. The hazards of the three components are summarized below Organic Electrolyte Classification according to the model Work Health and Safety Regulations
