SECTION 2: Hazards identification
Talostone® product as such is not hazardous. The hazards of this product are associated mainly with its Fabrication Processes* (including the fabrication workshop and upon installing and removing/demolishing Talostone® slabs) contains respirable crystalline silica (SiO2). Operations such as cutting, drilling, sawing, routing, grinding, chipping, polishing, sanding etc. can generate dust, and adequate ventilation is recommended to keep exposure to airborne dust below acceptable limits. Dust generated during handling of Quartz Surfacing Products can contain particles of crystalline silica (quartz). Overexposure to airborne quartz can cause silicosis (scaring of the lung tissue) with a risk of cancer. Effects can be permanent. If small particles are generated during further processing, handling or by other means, it may form combustible dust concentrations in air. DANGER!
