FIRST AID MEASURES • If inhaled (Overexposure): Unlikely to be inhaled; however if a person is affected by fumes, remove person to fresh air. Seek medical attention. • After contact with skin (Overexposure): Wash thoroughly with soap and water. If severe irritation develops, seek medical attention. • After contact with eyes: Rinse thoroughly with water for 15 minutes, seek medical attention. Do not rub eyes. • If swallowed: Seek medical attention. • Medical information: Inhaling decomposition products can cause temporary influenza-like symptoms which are described as “polymer fume fever”. Symptoms include fever, cough, and malaise. 5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES • Suitable extinguishing agents: Carbon dioxide, foam, water, agent suitable for environment. • Not suitable for safety reasons: None known. • Special dangers caused by substance Fluoropolymers will degrade upon prolonged heating or in a fire, liberating preparation itself, by combustion hydrogen fluoride (HF) and carbonyl fluoride (COF2). This gas is toxic if products or gases formed: inhaled or it comes into contact with moist skin. HF has an ACGIH PEL TLV (8hr TWA) of 0.5ppm and a ceiling limit of 2 ppm (1.7mg/m3).
