Section 2
SECTION 2: Hazards identification
Other physicochemical hazards
• Flammability: Ethanol is a flammable liquid. Its vapor can form an explosive mixture with air. It can catch fire and explode when exposed to open flames or high heat. • Explosion Limits: Lower explosion limit (V/V) 3.3%, upper explosion limit (V/V) 19.0%. Generated by Combustion When burning, it will produce harmful gases such as carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide
Health hazards
• Inhalation: High - concentration vapor may cause symptoms such as headache, dizziness, drowsiness, and confusion. Long - term or exces- sive inhalation may damage the central nervous system. • Skin Contact: It may cause skin dryness, defatting, and irritation. If there are wounds on the skin, it will cause a stinging sensation upon contact. • Eye Contact: Splashing the liquid into the eyes will cause strong irritation, resulting in pain, tearing, and redness. In severe cases, it may damage the cornea. • Ingestion: Ingestion by mistake will irritate the mouth, throat, and gastrointestinal tract, leading to nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Large - scale intake can cause coma, respiratory depression, and even death.
Environmental hazards
• After leakage, ethanol will volatilize rapidly, causing certain pollution to the atmosphere. If it enters water bodies, it will affect the aquatic ecological environment and be toxic to aquatic organisms. The dye may stain the soil and water bodies, affecting environmental aesthetics and ecological balance.
