2.3 Other hazards
Hydrogen sulfide concentration dissolved in asphalt is less than 0.1 %, but it may give rise to vapour concentrations in storage tanks in excess of the exposure limits. Hydrogen sulfide is classified as extremely flammable, very toxic by inhalation and very toxic to aquatic organisms. In addition to hydrogen sulfide, HTPs (concentrations known to be hazardous) have been determined for oil mist and bitumen vapour (see Section 8).
