Principle Routes of Exposure
Exposure will most likely occur through skin contact or inhalation Exposure to hydrogen sulphide can result in irritation to eyes and respiratory tract. Hydrogen sulphide acts as a cellular poison and overexposure may result in loss of consciousness and possible death.
Contains
Hydrogen Sulfide Single high level exposures may lead to immediate and serious health effects. Thermal burns may result from contact with hot material. Hydrogen sulphide, at 150 ppm or greater, may deaden sense of smell. Inhaled H2S may cause central nervous system depression resulting in headache, dizziness, nausea, unconsciousness, and death. Supplied air respiratory protection must be worn if the airborne H2S concentration is greater than 20 ppm. Handling: Avoid prolonged exposure to vapours. Wear suitable gloves and eye protection. Wear an approved respirator to prevent overexposure. During storage or transit, hydrogen sulfide may accumulate in enclosed spaces. Open containers/hatches with caution. For further information on health effects, see Section 11.
