SECTION 2: Hazards identification
EMERGENCY OVERVIEW: May cause allergic skin reaction. May cause allergic respiratory reaction. Causes eye burns. Causes eye irritation. Combustible liquid and vapor. Harmful if swallowed. Vapors irritating to eyes and respiratory tract. Harmful if inhaled. May affect the brain or nervous system causing dizziness, headache or nausea. May cause eye, skin, or respiratory tract irritation. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. Harmful if inhaled. Use ventilation necessary to keep exposures below recommended exposure limits, if any. EFFECTS OF OVEREXPOSURE - EYE CONTACT: Corrosive. Will cause eye burns and permanent tissue damage, including blindness. Causes eye irritation. Substance causes moderate eye irritation. EFFECTS OF OVEREXPOSURE - SKIN CONTACT: May be harmful if absorbed through skin. Causes skin irritation. Allergic reactions are possible. May cause skin sensitization, an allergic reaction, which becomes evident upon re-exposure to this material. May cause skin irritation. Substance may cause slight skin irritation. EFFECTS OF OVEREXPOSURE - INHALATION: Avoid breathing fumes, spray, vapors, or mist. May cause allergic respiratory reaction. High vapor concentrations are irritating to the eyes, nose, throat and lungs. Harmful if inhaled. May cause headaches and dizziness. High gas, vapor, mist or dust concentrations may be harmful if inhaled. Prolonged or excessive inhalation may cause respiratory tract irritation. EFFECTS OF OVEREXPOSURE - INGESTION: Aspiration hazard if swallowed; can enter lungs and cause damage. Irritating to the nose, throat and respiratory tract. Harmful if swallowed. EFFECTS OF OVEREXPOSURE - CHRONIC HAZARDS: Overexposure may cause lung damage. Contains a Cobalt compound. IARC lists Cobalt and Cobalt compounds as as possible human carcinogens (group 2B). However, there is inadequate evidence of the carcinogenicity of cobalt and cobalt compounds in humans and limited evidence in experimental animals. Reports have associated repeated and prolonged occupational overexposure to solvents with permanent brain and nervous system damage.
