OSHA EFFECTS FROM ACUTE EXPOSURE: INGESTION: Causes burns of the mouth, throat and stomach. May cause tissue damage. SKIN CONTACT: Causes burns. Prolonged contact can cause skin damage. Sodium Nitrite is tumorigenic and demonstrates reproductive effects in animal studies and is mutagenic in bacterial and mammalian cells. High dose animal studies indicate reproductive effects with Boron compounds. EFFECTS/CARCINOGENICITY: None listed under OSHA, IARC, or NTP.
