SECTION 2: Hazards identification
Classification (1999/45/EEC) Emergency Overview: May cause eye irritation. Inhalation of dust may cause mucous membrane and respiratory irritation. Prolonged overexposure to respirable crystalline silica may cause lung disease (silicosis) and increase the risk of lung cancer. Risk of cancer depends on duration and level of exposure. Principal symptoms of lung fibrosis are cough and breathlessness. Occupational exposure to respirable dust and respirable crystalline silica should be monitored and controlled.
