2.3 Other hazards
This product contains >0.1% crystalline silica which in the form of quartz or cristobalite dust is re- garded by IARC as carcinogenic to humans (Group 1). HazCom classification of the bulk product as “Specific Target Organ Toxicant- RE Category 1” is warranted at >1% respirable crystalline silica (quartz or cristobalite), based on the primary effect in humans of the inhalation of respirable crystalline silica dust , silicosis. Long term exposure can cause lung injury (silicosis). IARC and NTP have determined that crystalline silica inhaled from occupational sources can cause cancer in humans. Risk of injury is dependent on the duration and level of exposure.
