SECTION 2: Hazards identification
Portland cement and silica sand are a nuisance dust and irritant to the skin, eyes and mucous membranes and is not considered a dangerous substance according to directive 67/548/EEC, point 4. When mixed with water, a strong alkaline solution is produced. Contact with eyes or skin may cause serious burns and ulceration. Sand is crystalline silica. If silica particles are fine enough to enter the lungs, the constitute fibregenic dust are a hazard to the health.
