Section 2
SECTION 2: Hazards identification
EMERGENCY OVERVIEW: This is a polymeric compound. All ingredients are encapsulated by the polymer and present no likelihood of exposure under normal conditions of processing and handling. Styrene in monomer form is listed as a potential carcinogen for hazard communication purposes under OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.1200. There is presently no long term animal or human studies that have shown that exposure to styrene monomer can cause cancer. Because it is only present at a level of less than .25 % by weight, and is encapsulated in the polymer, it is not expected to cause any hazardous condition.
Potential health effects
EYES: Solid/dust may cause irritation due to mechanical action. Processing fumes may cause irritation. SKIN: Filament is not likely to cause irritation. Contact with molten material may cause thermal burns. --CONTINUED-- (CONTINUED) INGESTION: Not a probable route of exposure. Obtain immediate medical attention. INHALATION: Processing fumes may cause irritation to the respiratory tract.
Health hazards
None known for this compound SECTION 3 NOTES: Low hazard for usual industrial or commercial handling.
