SECTION 2: Hazards identification
Emergency Overview ***: FLAMMABLE liquid and vapor. Skin and eye irritant. Contains a material which can cause liver and kidney damage. Contains a material which may cause embryo/fetotoxicity based on animal data. Effects Of Overexposure - Eye Contact: Mists and vapors may cause severe eye irritation. Direct eye contact or exposure to vapors and mists may cause mild to severe irritation and may produce moderate, but reversible eye injury. This product is an eye irritant. Direct contact with the liquid or exposure to its vapor or mists may cause tearing, redness and swelling. Effects Of Overexposure - Skin Contact: Direct skin contact may cause irritation. Prolonged and repeated skin contact may cause moderate to severe skin irritation and possibly burns. A component(s) of this product may be slightly absorbed through the skin upon direct contact, possibly resulting in toxic effects similar to those of inhalation. Skin contact with this material may cause burning and redness. Effects Of Overexposure - Inhalation: Inhalation may cause mild irritation to the respiratory tract (nose, mouth, mucous membranes). Prolonged, repeated, or high exposures may cause weakness and depression of the central nervous system. In extreme cases, drowsiness and possibly loss of consciousness may occur. If poor ventilation, may cause unconsciousness and asphyxiation. Harmful if inhaled. May affect the brain or nervous system causing dizziness, headache, or nausea. Effects Of Overexposure - Ingestion: May be harmful if swallowed. May cause nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Effects of ingestion are similar as those for inhalation and skin absorption. Under normal use conditions, this product is not expected to cause adverse health effects. Aspiration hazard: this material can enter lungs during swallowing or vomiting and cause lung inflammation and damage. It may also cause nausea, vomiting, headaches, dizziness, and stupor from irritation of the digestive tract. Effects Of Overexposure - Chronic Hazards: Animal studies have shown that a component(s) of this product is associated with adverse effects or embryo/fetotoxicity at maternally toxic dosage levels. Repeated skin contact can lead to drying, itching, stinging and irritation. Reports have associated repeated and prolonged overexposure to solvents with permanent brain and nervous system damage. Intentional misuse by deliberately concentrating and inhaling the contents may be harmful or fatal. Prolonged or repeated exposure may cause kidney damage. This material (or its components) was found to be teratogenic in animal studies. This product contains carbon black which has been determined to be a known animal carcinogen and a possible human carcinogen.
