Cutting through the material and surface scuffing may release small amounts of airborne carbon fibres and dust which are mechanical irritants to skin, eyes and upper respiratory system. As with any airborne dust, pre-existing upper respiratory and lung diseases may be aggravated. Cutting through the material or mechanical processing may create small amounts of respirable fibre particulates of carbon. Airborne Carbon fibres or dust may result in shorts and malfunction of electrical equipment.
