SECTION 2: Hazards identification
OSHA EMERGENCY OVERVIEW CAUTION! High-pressure gas. Can cause rapid suffocation. Can increase respiration and heart rate. May cause dizziness and drowsiness. Self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing may be worn by rescue workers. Under ambient conditions, this is a colorless gas with no odor.
Potential health effects
Effects of a Single (Acute) Overexposure Inhalation. Asphyxiant. Effects are due to lack of oxygen. The carbon dioxide component is also physiologically active, affecting circulation and breathing. Moderate concentrations may cause headache, drowsiness, dizziness, stinging of the nose and throat, excitation, rapid breathing and heart rate, excess salivation, vomiting, and unconsciousness. Lack of oxygen can kill. Skin Contact. No harm expected. Swallowing. This mixture is a gas at normal temperature and pressure. Eye Contact. No harm expected. Effects of Repeated (Chronic) Overexposure. No harm expected. Copyright © 1985, 1988, 2000, 2004, 2009, Praxair Technology, Inc. Page 1 of 11 All rights reserved. Medical Conditions Generally Aggravated by Exposure
Overexposure. The toxicology and the physical and chemical properties of these mixtures suggest that overexposure is unlikely to aggravate existing medical conditions.
Environmental effects
