Physical state Liquid. [Colourless ] Odor sweet Emergency overview DANGER! EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE LIQUID AND VAPOR. May cause dizziness and drowsiness. May form explosive mixture with air. May irritate the eyes, skin, and respiratory tract. Has anesthetic effects in high concentration. Self-contained breathing apparatus may be required by rescue workers. Under ambient conditions, this is a colourless liquid. Extremely flammable liquid. Keep away from heat, sparks and flame. Avoid breathing vapor or mist. Avoid contact with skin and clothing. Principle Routes of Exposure
Dermal contact. Eye contact. Inhalation. Ingestion.
Potential Acute Health Effects
Inhalation : Vapors irritate the respiratory tract. High concentrations may act as an anesthetic, first stimulating the central nervous system (CNS), then depressing it to varying degrees. CNS depression is marked dizziness, drowsiness, and possibly unconsciousness. Ingestion Unavailable for 1-Hexene. When children ingest petroleum distillates such as hexene, the effects are similar to those of inhalation: CNS depression and tissue irritation. Lung damage due primarily to inhalation of vomited material has lead to coma and death from pulmonary edema (fluid in the lungs). Skin Liquid or vapour may irritate the skin. Eyes Liquid or vapour may irritate the eyes.
Potential chronic health
effects : Overexposure. Repeated or prolonged exposure of the skin may cause cracking and drying due to defatting of tissues. Carcinogenicity No known significant effects or critical hazards. Mutagenicity No known significant effects or critical hazards.
Teratogenic Effects
No known significant effects or critical hazards. Developmental effects No known significant effects or critical hazards. Fertility effects No known significant effects or critical hazards. ELc/1=/201m. Target organs May cause damage to the following organs: mucous membranes, skin, eyes. Over-exposure signs/symptoms Inhalation No specific data. Ingestion No specific data. Skin No specific data. Eyes No specific data. Medical conditions Pre-existing disorders involving any target organs mentioned in this MSDS as being at aggravated by over- risk may be aggravated by over-exposure to this product. exposure See toxicological information (section 11)
