SECTION 2: Hazards identification
OSHA General Precautions: Do not breathe gas, fumes, vapor or spray. Wash hands and face after handling and before eating, drinking, smoking or using restroom facilities. Chronic Exposure: May cause allergic respiratory reaction.
Contains
Ethylbenzene, which has been determined by NTP to be an animal carcinogen with no relevance to humans Contains crystaline silica. The IARC has determined that crystalline silica inhaled in the form of cristobablite from occupational sources is carcinogenic to humans(Group 1). Refer to IARC monograph 68 in conjunction with the use of these materials. Formaldehyde is classified as a Suspected Human Carcinogen (A2) by ACGIH, and as Probably Carcinogenic to Humans (Group 2A) by IARC. Formaldehyde has caused cancer in test animals. Xylene in high concentrations has caused embryotoxic effects in laboratory animals. Formaldehyde has caused cancer in test animals at high concentrations (5-15ppm).
Teratogenic Effects
Ethyl Benzene has been Classified as POSSIBLE for humans Cumene has been Classified as POSSIBLE for humans Toluene has been Classified as POSSIBLE for humans CARCINOGENIC EFFECTS: Ethyl Benzene has been listed by IARC as Group 2B, Possibly Carcinogenic to Humans. CARCINOGENIC EFFECTS: In 1996, the IARC reevaluated Carbon Black as a Group 2B carcinogen. This evaluation is given to carbon black for which there is inadequate human evidence, but sufficient animal evidence. Prolonged inhalation of respirable crystalline silica dust can result in lung disease (i.e. silicosis and/or lung cancer). Symptoms include coughing, shortness of breath, wheezing and reduced pulmonary function. Prolonged inhalation of Carbon black can result in lung disease. Symptoms include coughing, shortness of breath, wheezing and reduced pulmonary function. High exposure to Xylenes in some animal studies have been reported to cause health effects on the developing embryo/fetus.
Potential health effects
Ingestion Harmful or fatal if swallowed. Cancer Possible cancer hazard (contains material which) may cause cancer based on animal data. Emergency Overview: Contains materials which are considered carcinogenic by NTP Harmful if inhaled or swallowed. Vapors may cause flash fire or explosion. Flammable liquid. Suspect cancer hazard. Contains Formaldehyde Inhalation Harmful if inhaled. Eye Contact may cause eye irritation. Acute Exposure: Harmful if inhaled. May affect the brain, nervous system, or respiratory system, causing dizziness, nausea or respiratory irritation. Overexposure to ingredients in this product may cause nose and throat irritation, eye irritation, eye burns, skin irritation, allergic skin reaction, liver damage, kidney damage, respiratory tract infection, dermititis, corneal injury/eye damage Skin As with any paint or coating, skin absorption should be avoided. Miscellaneous Isopropyl alcohol The following medical conditions may be aggravated by exposure: dermatitis, respiratory disease. Developmental toxicity was seen in rat’s offspring at doses that were maternally toxic. Contact will cause moderate to severe redness and swelling, itching, tingling sensation, painful burning. May cause injury to the cornea of the eyes. Prolonged or repeated exposure may cause damage to any of the following organs/systems: liver. Ingestion studies on laboratory animals showed that very high oral doses caused increased liver and kidney weights. N-butyl alcohol May cause abnormal blood forming function with anemia. Liquid splashes in the eye may result in chemical burns. Isobutyl alcohol Has shown carcinogenic activity in laboratory animals at high doses. Significance to man is unknown. May cause irritation of the mucous membranes. May cause abnormal liver function. Increased susceptibility to the effects of this material may be observed in people with preexisting disease of any of the following: eyes, respiratory system, skin. Tests in laboratory animals have shown effects on any of the following organs/systems: bone marrow, liver. Prolonged skin contact may cause chemical burns. Liquid splashes in the eye may result in chemical burns. Ethylbenzene
