Section 2

SECTION 2: Hazards identification

OSHA EFFECTS OF OVEREXPOSURE: INHALATION: Vapor and/or spray mist may be harmful if inhaled. EYE CONTACT: Causes eye irritation. SKIN CONTACT: May cause skin irritation. INGESTION: Can result in irritation of the mouth, stomach tissue and digestive tract. CHRONIC OVEREXPOSURE: Ingestion of products containing ethylene glycol may damage kidneys and liver and has been shown to cause birth defects in laboratory animals. No evidence of these effects has been found in humans. This product contains titanium dioxide. Animals inhaling massive quantities of titanium dioxide in a long-term study developed lung tumors. Studies with humans involved in manufacture of this pigment indicate no increased risk of cancer from exposure. Potential for inhalation of titanium dioxide dusts from coatings is very limited. Since overexposures are not expected, there is no significant hazard for man. Prolonged exposure to excessive airborne concentrations of talc can result in scarring of the lungs (pneumoconiosis) or of the covering of the lungs (pleural thickening). Pneumoconiosis may produce symptoms of cough or shortness of breath. Pleural thickening usually produces no symptoms. Conditions can be determined by chest radiographic examination and pulmonary function test (FEV and FVC). Bronchial irritation may cause sputum production. Human, animal and in-vitro tests of talc do not show a carcinogenic effect. Contains an ingredient listed as known or suspected carcinogen? NTP: No OSHA: No IARC: No 4. FIRST AID MEASURES General: In all cases of doubt, or when symptoms persist, seek medical attention. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. INHALATION: If affected by inhalation of vapor or spray mist, remove to fresh air. EYE CONTACT: Flush immediately with plenty of water for 15 minutes until irritation subsides. If irritation persists, get medical attention. SKIN CONTACT: Flush with large amounts of water. Use soap if available. Remove severely contaminated clothing (including shoes) and wash before reuse. If irritation persists, get medical attention. INGESTION: Porter Paints 400 South 13th Street Louisville, KY 40203 If swallowed, gently wipe out inside mouth to remove any residual material.
