Section 2
SECTION 2: Hazards identification
EMERGENCY OVERVIEW May release high amount of nitrogen if inadvertenly heated above 50°C (122°F) or stored incorrectly. Pressure inside the container can increase and cause its rupture. This mixture has not been evaluated as a whole for health effects. Information provided on health effects of this product is based on the individual components. However, some vapors or contaminants may be released upon heating and the end-user (fabricator) must take the necessary precautions (mechanical ventilation, respiratory protection, etc.) to protect employees from exposure. See sections 8 and 11 for special precautions. WARNING!! Flammable Solid!! Ground containers and equipment before transfering. Minimize dust formation. May form explosive dust-air mixtures. May explode when shocked, exposed to heat or flame, or by spontaneous chemical reaction. May cause mechanical irritation to eyes, skin, and respiratory tract. Can be a respiratory sensitizer.
Principle Routes of Exposure
Eyes, Inhalation, Skin contact, Ingestion Acute exposure Inhalation : May cause irritation leading to coughing, sneezing, and difficulty in breathing. May cause respiratory sensitization with asthma-like symptoms including coughing, choking sensation, wheeziness, and shortness of breath. Ingestion : May be harmful if swallowed. Eyes : Particulates, like other inert materials can be mechanically irritating. Skin : Experience shows no unusual dermatitis hazard from routine handling. Chronic exposure : Refer to Section 11 for Toxicological Information.
Medical Conditions Generally Aggravated by Exposure
Individuals with chronic respiratory disorders (i.e. asthma, chronic bronchitis, etc.) may be adversely affected by any airborne contaminant.
