Other hazards which do not result in classification
As supplied/shipped, these complex alloys in massive form have no known immediate health hazards other than causing allergic reactions in individuals sensitive to the metals contained in the alloys, however these products may become hazardous in use and the information in this data sheet reflects the hazards associated with welding, melting, brazing, thermal spraying and other metallurgical operations. This product contains Cobalt, Cobalt dust/ fumes may cause an allergic skin reaction, are fatal if inhaled, may damage fertility or the unborn child, may cause allergy or asthma symptoms or breathing difficulties if inhaled and is suspected of causing cancer through inhalation. This product may contain Nickel, Nickel dust/fumes may cause an allergic skin reaction, causes damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure and is suspected of causing cancer through inhalation. Hexavalent Chromium (a known human inhalation carcinogen – EU Category 2) may be generated during working activities. If airborne emissions are excessive, inhalation may affect worker health. In brazing metals give rise to thermally produced particulates of smaller dimension than may be produced if the metals are divided mechanically. Where insufficient ventilation or respiratory protection is available these particulates may produce “metal fume fever” in workers from an acute or long term exposure.
