Precautionary statements
P233 - Keep container tightly closed. P210 - Keep away from heat/sparks/open flames/hot surfaces. - No smoking. P280 - Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection. P240 - Ground/bond container and receiving equipment. P241 - Use explosion-proof electrical/ventilating/lighting/.../ equipment. P243 - Take precautionary measures against static discharge. P242 - Use only non-sparking tools. P362+364 - Take off contaminated clothing and wash it before reuse. P264 - Wash hands thoroughly after handling. P271 - Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. P201 - Obtain special instructions before use. P202 - Do not handle until all safety precautions have been read and understood. P281 - Use personal protective equipment as required. P260 - Do not breathe dust/fume/gas/mist/vapors/spray.
Response
P303+361+353 - IF ON SKIN (or hair): Remove/take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Rinse skin with water/shower. P302+352 - IF ON SKIN: Wash with plenty of soap and water. P312 - Call a POISON CENTER/doctor/... if you feel unwell. P332+313 - If skin irritation occurs, get medical advice/attention. P304+340 - IF INHALED: Remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. P301+310 - IF SWALLOWED: Immediately call a POISON CENTER or doctor/physician. P331 - Do NOT induce vomiting. P308+313 - IF exposed or concerned: Get medical attention/advice. P363 - Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. P305+351+338 - IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. P301+330+331 - IF SWALLOWED: Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting.
Storage
P403+235 - Store in cool/well-ventilated place. P405 - Store locked up. OSHA Regulatory Status: This material is classified as hazardous under OSHA regulations.
Potential health effects
Prolonged or repeated eye contact may cause conjunctivitis. Workers chronically (Acute and Chronic): exposed to sulfuric acid mists may show various lesions of the skin, tracheobronchitis, stomatitis, conjunctivitis, or gastritis. Prolonged or repeated skin contact may cause dermatitis. Chronic inhalation may cause effects similar to those of acute inhalation. Prolonged or repeated inhalation may cause nosebleeds, nasal congestion, erosion of the teeth, perforation of the nasal septum, chest pain and bronchitis. Chronic: Effects may be delayed. Occupational exposure to strong inorganic acid mists containing sulfuric acid is carcinogenic to humans. Inhalation: The toxicological properties of this substance have not been fully investigated. High vapor/aerosol concentrations are irritating to the respiratory tract and may cause headaches, dizziness, anesthesia, drowsiness, unconsciousness , and other central nervous system effects including death. Inhalation of high concentrations may cause central nervous system effects characterized by nausea, headache, dizziness, unconsciousness and coma. Causes respiratory tract irritation. Vapors may cause dizziness or suffocation. May cause irritation of the respiratory tract with burning pain in the nose and throat, coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath and pulmonary edema. Causes chemical burns to the respiratory tract. Inhalation may be fatal as a result of spasm, inflammation, edema of the larynx and bronchi, chemical pneumonitis and pulmonary edema. Because its vapor pressure is negligible, it exists in the air only as a mist or spray. Exposure may impair lung function and cause mucostasis (reduced mucous clearance). Skin Contact: Prolonged and/or repeated contact may cause irritation and/or dermatitis. Skin contact may aggravate existing dermatitis. Causes skin irritation. Causes redness and pain. Causes skin burns. The severity of injury depends on the concentration of the solution and the duration of exposure. Eye Contact: High vapor/aerosol concentrations are irritating to the eyes. Causes severe eye irritation. Causes redness and pain. Causes severe eye burns. May cause irreversible eye injury. May cause blindness. May cause permanent corneal opacification. The severity of injury depends on the concentration of the solution and the duration of exposure. Ingestion: May be harmful if inhaled. Causes respiratory tract irritation. Harmful if absorbed through the skin. Causes skin irritation. Causes eye irritation. May be harmful if swallowed. Aspiration hazard. The toxicological properties of this substance have not been fully investigated. Low viscosity material-if swallowed may enter the lungs and cause lung damage. May cause gastrointestinal irritation with nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. May cause central nervous system depression, characterized by excitement, followed by headache, dizziness, drowsiness, and nausea. Advanced stages may cause collapse, unconsciousness, coma and possible death due to respiratory failure. Aspiration of material into the lungs may cause chemical pneumonitis, which may be fatal. May cause severe and permanent damage to the digestive tract. Causes gastrointestinal tract burns.
