Emergency Overview: WARNING! This product is harmful if swallowed or absorbed through the skin. Dried product can act as a reducing agent. Product contains sodium selenite. Overexposure to selenium compounds may cause liver and kidney damage, neurological effects. Eye Contact: May cause irritation. Inhalation: Expected to be a low hazard for recommended handling. May cause irritation mucous membranes and to upper respiratory tract. Some asthmatics or those with sulfite sensitivities may experience difficulty breathing. In contact with strong acids or if heated the sulfites may liberate sulfur dioxide gas which is irritating to the respiratory tract. Ingestion: Harmful if swallowed. May cause irritation to gastrointestinal tract. Some asthmatics or sulfite-sensitive persons may experience wheezing, chest tightness, stomach upset, hives, faintness, weakness and diarrhea. Skin Contact: Harmful if absorbed through the skin. May cause irritation or reddening. Signs And Symptoms Of Exposure: Eye irritation, respiratory irritation, dermatitis, difficulty breathing, abdominal pain, skin irritation, mucus membrane irritation, coughing, nausea, diarrhea, garlic breathe.
