SECTION 2: Hazards identification
Toxicity: May cause eye, skin and respiratory irritation. Aspiration hazard if swallowed. Intentional misuse by concentrating and inhaling the vapor may be harmful or fatal. Long term exposure to high concentrations of vapor may cause lung, liver or kidney damage. n-Hexane may damage peripheral nerve tissue. Toluene: Repeated exposure has been associated with high frequency hearing loss based on evidence in laboratory animals; the human health consequences of this finding is uncertain. Reports have associated repeated and prolonged overexposure to solvents with permanent brain and nervous system damage (sometimes referred to as "solvent" or "painter's syndrome"). Symptoms include fatigue, concentration difficulties, anxiety, depression, rapid mood swings, and short-term memory loss.
Principle Routes of Exposure
Eye and skin contact, ingestion, inhalation Signs and Symptoms of Exposure: Overexposure may cause eye and skin redness. Excessive overexposure may cause giddiness, dizziness, headache, nausea and in extreme cases, unconsciousness and respiratory depression.
