The substance does not meet the criteria for classification as PBT or vPvB substance. With handling of SiMn a dust can be raised in the air. Exceeding an occupational exposure limit (OEL) and prolonged overexposure to dust from SiMn can be harmful to human health. There is a risk of chronic intoxication by manganese which can eventually cause neurological symptoms, such as Parkinson-like disease. Avoid inhalation of dust from SiMn.
