COMPOSITION/INFORMATION ON INGREDIENTS Ingredient Content (g/L) Active ingredient 120 g/L (Didecyldimethylammonium Chloride) Ethanol 100 g/L Water 780 g/L 4. FIRST AID MEASURES General advice: If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre. Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. If breathing is irregular or stopped, administer artificial respiration. Call a physician. Skin contact: Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Rinse skin with water/ shower. Call a physician immediately. Eye contact: Immediately flush with plenty of water. After initial flushing, remove any contact lenses and continue flushing for at least 15 minutes. Keep eye wide open while rinsing. If symptoms persist, call a physician. Ingestion: DO NOT induce vomiting. Immediately rinse mouth with water (only if patient is conscious) and consult a physician or call the Poisons Information Centre. DO NOT induce vomiting due to risk of further damage. Give water or milk to drink if patient is conscious. Medical advice: Treat symptomatically. 5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES Extinguishing media Suitable extinguishing media: Use foam, dry powder or carbon dioxide. Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture May evolve toxic gases (carbon/nitrogen oxides, ammonia, chlorides, hydrocarbons) when heated to decomposition. Advice for fire-fighters Wear full protective clothing and self-contained breathing apparatus. Do not allow run-off from fire fighting to enter drains or water courses. Cool closed containers exposed to fire with water spray. 6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures Advice for non-emergency personnel: Do not breathe vapours, aerosols. Avoid substance contact. : 0 PAGES : 6 Ensure adequate ventilation. Keep away from heat and sources of ignition. Evacuate the danger area, observe emergency procedures, consult an expert. Environmental precautions Do not let product enter drains. Risk of explosion. Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up Cover drains. Collect, bind, and pump off spills. Observe possible material restrictions (see sections 7 and 10). Take up with liquid-absorbent material. Dispose of properly. Clean up affected area. Reference to other sections Refer to disposal considerations listed in section 13. 7. HANDLING AND STORAGE Precautions for safe handling No special protective measures against fire required. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. When using does not eat, drink or smoke. For personal protection see section 8. Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities Store in the closed, original container in a cool, well-ventilated area. Do not store for prolonged periods in direct sunlight. Keep out of the reach of children. Keep away from food, drink and animal feedingstuffs. Specific end use(s) For proper and safe use of this product, please refer to the approval conditions laid down on the product label. 8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION Engineering measures: Technical measures and appropriate working operations should be given priority over the use of personal protective equipment. Protective measures: The use of technical measures should always have priority over the use of personal protective equipment. When selecting personal protective equipment, seek appropriate professional advice. Personal protective equipment should be certified to appropriate standards. Respiratory protection: A combination gas, vapour and particulate respirator may be necessary until effective technical measures are installed. Protection provided by air-purifying respirators is limited. Use a self-contained breathing apparatus in cases of emergency spills, when exposure levels are unknown, or under any circumstances where air-purifying respirators may not provide adequate protection. Hand protection: Chemical resistant gloves should be used. Gloves should be certified to an appropriate standard. Gloves should have a minimum breakthrough time that is appropriate to the duration of exposure. The breakthrough time of gloves varies according to the thickness, material and manufacturer. Gloves should be changed when breakthrough is suspected. Suitable material: nitrile rubber. Eye protection: If eye contact is possible, use tight-fitting chemical safety goggles and a faceshield. Skin and body protection: Assess the exposure and select chemical resistant clothing based on the : 0 PAGES : 6 potential for contact and the permeation / penetration characteristics of the clothing material. Wash with soap and water after removing protective clothing. Decontaminate clothing before re-use, or use disposable equipment (suits, aprons, sleeves, boots, etc.). Wear as appropriate: impervious protective suit. 9. PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES Form: Liquid Color: Colourless Odor: Slight pH: 5.0~8.0 Specific Gravity: 0.99 Solubility in water: Fully miscible Flash point: No information available Oxidizing properties: not oxidizing Explosive properties: not explosive. 10. STABILITY AND REACTIVITY Stability: Stable under normal conditions of use. Conditions to avoid: Avoid extreme heat, flames and ignition sources. Hazardous polymerization will not occur. Incompatible materials: No information available 10.6 Hazardous decomposition products: May evolve toxic gases (carbon/nitrogen oxides, ammonia, chlorides, hydrocarbons) when heated to decomposition.
