Exposure may aggravate those with pre-existing eye, skin, or respiratory conditions In contact with water and alkaline solution occurs (pH 11 - 11.5). The concrete mix reacts chemically and hardens when mixed with water. The reaction is exothermic resulting in a temperature rise. In large quantities the temperature may increase enough to cause a risk of burns.
