2.3 Other hazards

The potential health hazards associated with exposure/handling of this mixture are unknown; no data specific for the mixture were identified. The following data describe the hazards of individual ingredients, where applicable. Though not intended for therapeutic use, the Ad5 virus causes a self-limiting infection that results in the common cold and/or mild respiratory infection, symptoms of which may include congestion, runny nose, and cough. In this regard, preexisting antibodies against Ad5 in healthy individuals have been shown to neutralize the infection. It is not known if infection can occur following exposure by dermal or oral routes (which are typical in a workplace setting); however, it likely occurs with accidental inhalation or injection (i.e., needlesticks), or exposure to cut/broken skin. SECTION 2 - HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION …continued Other hazards …continued Proclin 300 (3 1 mixture 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one 2-methyl-4- isothiazolin-3-one) is reported to be a skin sensitizer at levels as low as 0.0015 Because the mixture contains a protein it may cause an allergic skin or respiratory reaction (e.g., potential to cause anaphylaxis). In a workplace setting, the likelihood of systemic effects following accidental ingestion is low, due to the rapid breakdown of proteins in the digestive tract. Note This mixture is classified as hazardous under GHS as implemented by Regulation EC No 1272/2008 (EU CLP), WHMIS 2015 (Health Canada), and Hazard Communication Standard No. 1910.1200 (US OSHA).
