SECTION 2: Hazards identification
Skin – No special hazard risk under normal use. The bandage should be wetted with cold or luke warm water only as wetting with hotter water over 25 degrees centigrade may raise the temperature of the plaster and potentially cause a burn Ingestion – Plaster of paris bandage should not be ingested (eaten) and the plaster from the bandage should not be ingested. As plaster hardens when it is wetted, it could cause an obstruction and large oral doses could cause irritation Inhalation – Avoid sawing the bandage and take care when cutting it as plaster of paris dust will be released which may cause respiratory irritation leading to coughing etc.
