MOC3: The SDS contains valuable information critical to the safe handling and proper use of the product. The SDS should be retained and available for employees and other users of this product. OVERVIEW PHYSICAL APPEARANCE: Light amber to dark in color, moderately viscous liquid. IMMEDIATE CONCERNS: Material is not expected to be the cause of a severe emergency hazard when used as recommended. Concerns associated with this product are primarily due to exposure limit for oil mists in air ( 5mg/ M3 )(NIOSH 0.5mg/M3 for metalworking fluids). Product may be used in applications where misting could occur. Mists should be maintained below exposure limits. Inhalation of excessive levels of mists can be harmful. Do not ingest: Viscosity is >20.5cSt@40C; aspiration into lungs during ingestion is not expected under normal conditions. Risks of aspiration increases as material experiences extreme elevated temperatures. Avoid Skin Contact: Prolonged or repeated contact may result in irritation/dermatitis. If material is injected into or under any part of the skin, or into any part of the body, the individual should be evaluated immediately by a physician as an emergency. Product is liquid and floats on water. This product is only slightly combustible (Class IIIB) but will burn. Heated product will produce vapors, which in the presence of an ignition source can be ignited, if confined.
Medical Conditions Generally Aggravated by Exposure
Material is not expected to be severely irritating to the skin when used as recommended. Occurences of irritation are generally considered mild. However, individuals with pre-existing skin irritations / conditions prone to irritation should avoid prolonged contact with this material. Pre-existing eye, skin and respiratory disorders may be aggravated by exposure to this product. Pre-existing disorders involving target organs may be aggravated by exposure to this product. METALWORKING FLUID WARNING / STATEMENT: Acute and chronic respiratory responses have been reported in occupational exposures to metalworking fluids(MWF). Exposure to MWF mists can aggravate existing respiratory conditions. SENSITIZATION: Not expected COMMENTS HEALTH: Skin contact with this product and petroleum hydrocarbons in general, tend to remove skin oils possibly leading to irritation and/or dermititis. This product has a very low order of acute oral and dermal toxicity. Aspiration into lungs during ingestion can cause severe damage. Aspiration into lungs during ingestion at ambient temperature under normal conditions is not expected. Risks of aspiration into lungs during ingestion increases as temperature of material is elevated.
2.1 Classification of the substance or mixture
Not classified as hazardous under GHS criteria.
