2.1 Classification of the substance or mixture

2.2 Label elements

Phrases recommended to appear on a supplier label, can be found in Section 15 WHMIS symbols required on a supplier label: Emergency Overview Liquid. Perfumed odour. DANGER! May be corrosive to Aluminum. Corrosive liquid. Causes eye, skin and digestive tract burns. May cause severe irritation to the nose, throat and respiratory tract. Contains material which can cause lung damage.

Potential health effects

Signs and symptoms of short-term (acute) exposure Inhalation : May cause severe irritation to the nose, throat and respiratory tract. Symptoms may include coughing, choking and wheezing. Could result in pulmonary edema (fluid accumulation). Symptoms of pulmonary edema (chest pain, shortness of breath) may be delayed. Skin : Liquid may cause severe irritation or corrosive injury. Prolonged contact may produce chemical burns to affected skin areas. Eyes : Could cause burns and permanent eye damage if not promptly removed. Ingestion : May cause severe irritation and corrosive damage in the mouth, throat and stomach. Symptoms may include abdominal pain, vomiting, burns, perforations, bleeding and eventually death. Ingestion of larger amounts may cause defects to the central nervous system (e.g. dizziness, headache). Effects of long-term (chronic) exposure In extreme cases, tooth erosion could result.
