Potential health effects
Eye: May cause eye irritation. Skin: May cause mild skin irritation. Ingestion: May cause gastrointestinal irritation with nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Inhalation: Solution is not likely to cause respiratory tract irritation at this concentration. - 1 - Chronic: In rare cases, nitrate may be converted to nitrite in the body, causing methemoglobinemia and adverse kidney effects. This effect has mostly been reported in infants.
