Section 2
SECTION 2: Hazards identification
2.1 Classification of the substance or mixture
Emergency overview Solid. [Powder.] Gray. Odorless. May cause damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure. (lungs) Handling and/or processing of this material may generate a dust which can cause mechanical irritation of the eyes, skin, nose and throat. Depending on the type of handling and use (e.g. grinding, drying), airborne respirable crystalline silica (quartz - cristobalite) may be generated. Prolonged and/or massive inhalation of respirable crystalline silica dust may cause lung fibrosis, commonly referred to as silicosis. Principal symptoms of silicosis are cough and breathlessness. Occupational exposure to respirable crystalline silica dust should be monitored and controlled. Get medical advice or attention if you feel unwell. See Section 12 for environmental precautions. Classification of the : SPECIFIC TARGET ORGAN TOXICITY (REPEATED EXPOSURE) - Category 2 substance or mixture

Health hazards
Handling and/or processing of this material may generate a dust which can cause mechanical irritation of the eyes, skin, nose and throat. Overexposure to dust may cause granulomas, silicosis, lung cancer and/or varying degrees of respiratory irritation Symptoms related to the physical, chemical and toxicological characteristics Eye contact Adverse symptoms may include the following irritation redness Inhalation Adverse symptoms may include the following respiratory tract irritation coughing Skin contact No specific data Ingestion No specific data Delayed and immediate effects and also chronic effects from short and long term exposure Short term exposure Potential immediate effects : Not available. Potential delayed effects : Not available. Long term exposure Potential immediate effects : Not available. Potential delayed effects : Not available.
Environmental hazards
Copper concentrate is relatively insoluble in water, and therefore its constituent metals have low direct bioavailability
Other hazards which do not result in classification
