Emergency Overview: High pH clear liquid with lemon odor. Causes eye, skin, respiratory and digestive tract irritation. Spray mist causes irritation to respiratory tract. Reacts with aluminum, zinc, magnesium, and tin to form explosive hydrogen gas. ROUTES OF ENTRY INTO THE BODY (ACUTE EFFECTS): SKIN CONTACT X SKIN ABSORPTION X EYE CONTACT X INHALATION ACUTE INHALATION CHRONIC X INGESTION X Eye contact: Causes severe irritation. Skin contact: Causes severe burning of skin, deep ulcerations and ultimate scarring. Inhalation: Spray mist irritating to respiratory tract. Ingestion: Burning of mouth, esophagus, and stomach. Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea and swelling of larynx. Chronic hazards: Irritation of respiratory tract, irritation of mucous membrane of eye, inflammation of lungs. May cause ulceration of eye or permanent damage. Perforation of gastrointestinal tract can occur.
