SECTION 2: Hazards identification
Principle Routes of Exposure
Inhalation? Skin? Ingestion? Yes YES inhalation, eye contact and skin contact
Potential health effects
Signs and Symptoms of Exposure EYE: Liquid and aerosols of this product are irritating and can cause tearing, reddening, swelling and stinging of the eyes. SKIN: Excessive skin contact may cause irritation and redness. INHALATION: Excess inhalation may result in headaches, nausea, lung irritation, and narcosis. INGESTION: Moderately toxic by ingestion (unless noted below).
Potential chronic health
Reports have associated repeated and prolonged occupational overexposure to solvents with permanent brain and nervous system damage. Contains solid materials: When subjected to operations such as milling, sawing or sanding of the cured coating, the resultant dust constitutes a hazardous dust of the non-volatile noted in Section II. Carcinogenicity: No Carcinogenic properties known unless noted below. Contains low levels of Formaldehyde; which is listed by IARC & NTP as a suspect carcinogen. There is no current supporting evidence beyond animal testing that it may cause cancer in humans. Due to the low concentration, there should be minimal risk with adequate ventilation. See Section VIII. Contains low levels of Polyaromatic Hydrocarbons which have been shown to cause cancer and respiratory damage in laboratory animals. Contains ethylbenzene which has been classified as possibly carcino- genic to humans (Group 2B) on the basis of experimental animal studies, while there is inadequate evidence to show carcinoge- nicity for humans. Contains Carbon Black pigment which is listed by IARC as an animal carcinogen based on the long term, high concentration inhalant exposure of rats. Other animal testing (mice and hamsters) was negative and there is inadequate evidence with respect to humans. IARC has designated Carbon Black as a “Group 2B” or as a “possible” human carcinogen. TARGET ORGANS: No Specific date available unless noted below.
