US ACGIH Threshold Limit Values: Skin designation Naphthalene (CAS 91-20-3) Can be absorbed through the skin. Inhalation Aspiration of material into lungs can cause chemical pneumonitis. May cause respiratory irritation. Ingestion May cause stomach distress, nausea or vomiting. Target organs Eyes. Skin. Respiratory system.
Potential chronic health
Prolonged or repeated exposure can cause drying, defatting and dermatitis. May cause chronic toxic effects. Signs and symptoms Symptoms may include redness, oedema, drying, defatting and cracking of the skin. Symptoms may include discomfort or pain, excess blinking and tear production, with marked redness and swelling of the conjunctiva. Symptoms of overexposure may be headache, dizziness, tiredness, nausea and vomiting.
