SECTION 2: Hazards identification
Toxicity: This material is irritating to skin, eyes and respiratory tract. Harmful if swallowed. High concentrations may cause central nervous system (CNS) depression. Prolonged and repeated exposure to methyl ethyl ketone and/or n-hexane may cause peripheral neuropathy by damaging peripheral nerve tissue (that of arms and legs) and result in muscular weakness and loss of sensation.
Principle Routes of Exposure
Eye and skin contact, ingestion, inhalation Signs and Symptoms of Exposure: May cause pain, redness or swelling of the eyes and excessive blinking and tear production. Prolonged skin contact may defat the skin and produce dermatitis. Ingestion may cause nausea and vomiting. Excessive exposure may cause abdominal discomfort, lumbar pain, CNS depression and kidney or liver damage.
