SECTION 2: Hazards identification
EMERGENCY OVERVIEW
2.1 Classification of the substance or mixture
Flammable Liquid, Category 2 Acute Toxicity (Oral), Category 4 Eye Damage/Irritation, Category 2 Skin Corrosion/Irritation, Category 2 Sensitization - Skin, Category 1 Specific Target Organ Toxicity (Single Exposure - Respiratory Tract Irritation, Narcosis), Category 3 Specific Target Organ Toxicity (Repeated Exposure), Category 2 PHYSICAL APPEARANCE Liquid IMMEDIATE CONCERNS DANGER! Flammable liquid and vapor. May cause eye, skin and respiratory tract irritation. May cause asphyxiation, or brain, lung or other organ injury if inhaled, swallowed or absorbed by the skin. HAZARDOUS WARNING LABEL: DANGER! FLAMMABLES! Highly flammable liquid and vapour. Harmful if swallowed. Causes serious eye irritation. Causes skin irritation. May cause an allergic skin reaction. May cause respiratory irritation. May cause drowsiness and dizziness. May cause damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure.
Precautionary statements
Use personal protective equipment as required. Wear protective gloves. Wear eye or face protection. Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources. No smoking. Use explosion-proof electrical, ventilating, lighting and all material-handling equipment. Use only nonsparking tools. Take precautionary measures against static discharge. Keep container tightly closed. Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. Do not breathe vapor. Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product. Wash hands thoroughly after handling. Contaminated work clothing should not be allowed out of the workplace.
Potential health effects
EYES Liquid is severely irritating to the eyes. High vapor concentrations are also irritating. SKIN Liquid is moderately irritating to the skin. Prolonged or repeated contact can result in drying of the skin which may result in skin irritation and dermatitis (rash). Liquid may be absorbed through the skin. INGESTION Ingestion may cause headache, dizziness, fatigue, and central nervous system depression along with gastrointestinal disturbances. INHALATION Vapors may be irritating to the nose, throat, and respiratory tract. Exposure to high vapor concentrations may cause central nervous system (CNS) depression. Aspiration of liquid may cause pneumontitis, pulmonary edema, and hemorrhaging. CHRONIC Chronic exposure to this material may cause respiratory irritation and other more serious health concerns if exposure is above the exposure limits. CARCINOGENICITY This material is not currently known to have carcinogenic properties. MUTAGENICITY This material is not know to have mutagenic effects on genetic material. IRRITANCY: This material may cause irritation to the eyes, skin, and respiratory tract. Use correct PPE when handling this material. REPRODUCTIVE TOXICIITY REPRODUCTIVE EFFECTS This material is not known to cause any reproductive system damage.
